The Best Laid Plans
I wanted to spend a nice three-hour stretch with my sketchbook and a nice blended coffee. Seemed simple enough.
Bad lighting. Bad seating. Good coffee. Then good seating and good lighting, followed by bad humans. Inconsiderate humans to be exact (redundant?). As a result, I didn’t really get anything done, not much anyway. Oh well, at least the coffee was good. And I did happen to score my first Foursquare Mayorship, which I’ve been dying to snag ever since I started using the service. Now I can finally buy that Mayor t-shirt without feeling like a fraud. I was hoping that my first Mayorship would be at a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, but I have to settle for Starbucks. Meh.
I’m looking forward to going home in a little while. Last night I finally caught up with Doctor Who, at least as far as Netflix is concerned, they’ve only 5 series of the reboot available for streaming, so last night I had to go hunting for the series 6 torrents. I downloaded the Christmas special that bridges series 5 & 6, and have the first two episodes of the new series, and hopefully eps 3 & 4 will be downloaded by the time I get home (I left them running before I went out).
Anyway, I’m excited to get my Doctor Who on, it seems to get better with each series and I was absolutely in love with the arc of series 5. I’d go further in-depth about my love and qualms with the series (the show as a whole) but I can’t wrap my head around how to do so without giving away spoilers.
Okay, gonna duck out of this coffee shop soon. Probably gonna order something else before I leave, something to nurse on while I watch my stories.

Since I’m updating, might as well fill it out some more since I rarely post anywhere anymore.
Along with catching up with Doctor Who I’ve caught up with Fullmetal Alchemist - Brotherhood. I’m actually only caught up to Part (season) 4, or should I say 5? I mean to say that I’ve watched all of part 4, and have yet to watch 5. I suppose I could torrent the 5th Part, but I’ve rather been enjoying watching the last two parts on Blu-ray. Netflix only lists the DVD release as “coming soon” or some such, and makes no mention of the Blu-ray release. Bummer. I’ll nose around the Net and see what the quality is of the episodes I can get my hands on. The series 6 episodes of Doctor Who I’ve snagged look great, they’re 720p captures that average around just over a gig, they look just as good as the HD Netflix stream I’ve been watching so far.
What other series have I been watching? Oh, since I’ve caught up with these two series I’ve been thinking of putting something else into rotation. But there’s too much to choose from! Since Netflix added every Star Trek series to Watch Instantly I’ve been thinking that might be the way to go, only because I’ve seen certain series and the fact that I haven’t seen them all, and in order, well, it’s driving my OCD into overdrive. Can you believe I’ve never seen the original series? I’ve only watched about 90% of …The Next Generation, the entirety of …Voyager and a few episodes of …Enterprise. I started watching TOS about a year or two ago (probably got up to episode 6 or something like that) on the CBS website, or whenever it was that it first launched on there. The stream wasn’t the best, lotta macroblocking for my part, but it was good enough. The stream that Netflix has available is a dream by comparison. And best of all they have the pilot that wasn’t available on CBS.com for some reason. I watched that about a week ago, and thought I’d rewatch every episode I’ve seen thus far. Only got part way into the first real episode. So I guess TOS is on the docket. And I want to add something else. I also heard Netflix added Mad Men to Watch Instantly, so there’s that. But I’ve heard so many people raving about Breaking Bad and The Wire, so there’s those too. I mean, there’s just so many great series I haven’t seen. But the darker the better with me, so I might go the route of something like The Wire or Breaking Bad. The Lost Room, The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, The Bing Bang Theory, It’s Garry Shandling’s Show, Archer, The Mighty Boosh, The Venture Bros., Twin Peaks, The West Wing, The Office (UK & US), Queer As Folk (UK & US), The Shield, 24… I could go on and on. I swear, if I had dominion over space-time I wouldn’t abuse the power, I’d just lock myself into a bubble and consume media wherever I could find it, I’d sustain myself on stories.
Okay enough blathering. Gonna wash some dishes. Meh.
