This sculpture brought tears to my eyes. Not because of its source (at least I don’t think that’s the reason), I just think it looks utterly beautiful. So I guess part of the credit should go to the photographer as well; it’s a powerful image.
I wonder how someone intimately affected by the quake would react to seeing this thing interpreted in such a way. I wonder if the light would shine through, the art of it, beyond the nightmare of the memory. One hell of a juxtaposition.
